Ghanaian technological innovator, philanthropist, agriculturalist, industrialist, and man of God, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, has passed away.
He died on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
The Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church announced his peaceful demise in a statement signed by his daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
“Apostle Safo was a true genius, the beacon of hope for many, a father to the fatherless,” excerpts of the statement read.

The family noted in the statement that “Ghana has indeed lost a gallant son and a true legend.”
His life was marked by struggles, dreams, resilience, courage, determination, and dedication to his calling and conviction.
Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka was popularly known as “Kantanka, the African Star” for his groundbreaking inventions and innovations.
He manufactured Ghana’s first automobile, the Kantanka Saloon, in 1998, and later developed a Cross Country four-wheel Drive “Kantanka Onantefo I” in 2006.
He also produced various gadgets and agricultural machines, showcasing his ingenuity and creativity.
During this period of grief, the family humbly requests that the general public respect their privacy and that of their loved ones.
Burial and funeral arrangements will be communicated in the coming days.
“For if we live, we live to the Lord and if we die, we die to the Lord,” the family quoted Romans 14:8 in their statement.
