Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, has been honoured with a living tribute during his official visit to Singapore.

The National Orchid Garden, part of the Singapore Botanic Gardens, unveiled a newly named orchid hybrid “Vanda John Dramani Mahama” in recognition of the President’s visit and his role in strengthening international relations.

The naming ceremony took place as part of President Mahama’s tour of the historic Gardens. He signed the official visitors’ book and received a guided briefing on the Gardens’ legacy and role in Singapore’s natural heritage.

The VIP Orchid naming tradition is a hallmark of Singapore’s soft diplomacy, celebrating visiting heads of state and other global dignitaries. Orchids named through this programme are not only admired for their beauty but are seen as symbols of respect, friendship, and shared growth between nations.
