The Government of Ghana has officially declared significant commerciality for the Eban-Akoma oil and gas discoveries located within the Cape Three Points Block 4 (CTP-B4). This announcement follows the successful completion of the Eban-Akoma Appraisal Program, conducted in line with the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act, 2016 (Act 919), and the CTP-B4 Petroleum Agreement.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, Minister John Abdulai Jinapor described the declaration as a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to the sustainable development of Ghana’s hydrocarbon resources.
“The Eban-Akoma discoveries represent a major boost for Ghana’s oil and gas sector,” said Hon. Jinapor. “They underscore the vast potential of our offshore resources to drive economic transformation, improve energy security, and accelerate industrialization across the country.”
He added that the Ministry, in collaboration with the Petroleum Commission and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), will continue to provide strategic oversight and support to ensure the development of the Eban-Akoma project is executed efficiently and aligns with national development goals.
According to the statement, this milestone reinforces Ghana’s commitment to building a transparent, investor-friendly, and resilient energy sector that delivers lasting value for the Ghanaian people.
